The New York Yankees have been off to quite a historic start to the 2022 season, and according to a trend from one notable stat, they may go on to make a return to the World Series.

The Yankees took care of business in the opening game of their home doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, clinching a 6-1 win. From the four home runs recorded by the offense to the seven shutout innings posted by Nestor Cortes, the Yankees simply had their way against the Angels in the contest.

The Yankees moved to a 35-15 record with the victory over the Angels. Not only do they currently hold a comfortable lead in the AL East standings, but they are also on pace for a 113-win campaign.

More so, this is the 10th time in Yankees franchise history that they have won at least 35 games from their opening 50 contests in a season. They made a trip to the Fall Classic in each of the nine previous such instances.

Most recently, the Yankees in the 1998 season tallied 37 wins in their such games and went on to finish the campaign with 114 victories.

With the versatility across the board within their offense coupled with the bounce-back seasons so far from multiple starting pitchers, the Yankees could very well go on to play in the World Series for the first time in 13 years.
