Dwight Howard is expecting himself to be in Springfield one day. No, it’s not about a guest appearance on The Simpsons, but rather a speech one day in front of basketball luminaries as he’s being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The veteran center recently got ambushed for an interview by the always-lurking TMZ Sports, which asked him how he views his chances of getting into the Hall of Fame despite his blemished reputation in the eyes of many observers,

“I don't really concern myself with what a lot of people say about me. My resume speaks for itself. I know what I've done in this NBA, in my career. Think I've been pretty successful. A lot of times people always want to hate, say something bad about who you are as a player and a person. That's just really a testament to their character.”

Howard’s list of accomplishments on the basketball court is undeniably impressive. He is an eight-time All-Star. He has made either the First or Second All-NBA Teams a total of six times so far in his career. He’s been named as the Defensive Player of the Year three times and led the league in rebounds in five different seasons. His resume does not include an NBA title, but there are a lot of players before him who got into Springfield without a ring like Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, and Allen Iverson to name a few.

Plus, Howard’s career is still not over yet, so there’s still a chance for him to win that elusive NBA championship. The odds are long for him to accomplish that with his new team, the Washington Wizards, but the former No. 1 overall pick will gladly take his chances in the nation’s capital.
