Kristaps Porzingis returned back to where his career all started as the Washington Wizards faced the New York Knicks. He dominated his former team, scoring 18 points on 5-9 shooting while collecting 11 rebounds. The Knicks, though, took the win with a 100-97 score.

Of course, Porzingis was facing more than just the Knicks. The Madison Square Garden crowd showered him with boos before and during the game. According to the New York Post's Peter Botte, the Wizards' big man said that he still enjoys playing in New York.

“I enjoy this. I enjoy playing at MSG, whether it’s at home before or now on the road. It’s always entertaining,” said Porzingis, who scored a team-high-tying 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 29 minutes. “The biggest stage, and again, receiving the boos. It is what it is.

“It’s in the past now. I love the city. I miss this city a lot. I miss a lot of people here. Yeah, it is what it is, but I really enjoyed my time here and I only have good memories from this place.”

The epic fallout Porzingis had with the Knicks instantly made him one of the most hated athletes in the city. New York would beat the Dallas Mavericks, Porzingis' new team, in his homecoming and several other times over the course of his stint there. He lost to the Knicks in his first game against them with Washington, who will afford him more chances to play them.

Porzingis has had a decent start with the Wizards, particularly as it pertains to his improving efficiency. Still, it's very unlikely he ever reaches the level of stardom he reached in New York.
