Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma probably wishes he got out of the way of Daniel Gafford, but by the time he realized that, it was already too late as the Washington Wizards big man hammered down a highlight slam right over his face.

In the opening quarter of the Wizards' hosting of the Lakers at Capital One Arena on Wednesday, the home team got it rolling with some gold pick-and-roll action. Gafford, whom Washington acquired from the Chicago Bulls before the deadline, made a fantastic cut to the rim and detonated all over Kuz.

Sheez. That was NASTY.

Kyle Kuzma, who has gotten much better defensively for the reigning champs this year, found himself crashing to the floor after that play. Then again, there's probably not much he can do against a 6-foot-10 high-flyer with a full head of steam.

He's lucky that he wasn't called for a blocking foul there since he was clearly inside the restricted area. Daniel Gafford, on the other hand, has been thriving with his larger role with the Wizards.

The 22-year-old slotman has been tallying 10.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in around 18.2 minutes per game since moving to DC and joining the Wizards roster. For sure, Kuz will be more wary next time he sees Gafford around the rim like that.
