Christian Pulisic scored the first goal to break the 0-0 deadlock in Friday's World Cup qualifier between the US Men's National Team and Mexico; however, what followed was a bigger slap to El Tri.

Simply put, Pulisic doesn't forget.

After coming in as a substitute early in the second half of the contest, the Chelsea winger quickly made his impact felt for the Americans with a stunner in the 74th minute. Pulisic drained a header from close range off a  Timothy Weah assist to give them the lead at crunch time.

It was Pulisic's goal celebration that made headlines, though, as he lifted his shirt a bit to show his undershirt with the words “Man in the mirror.”

Now this is where things get brutal for Mexico. For those not in the know, Christian Pulisic's “Man in the mirror” statement is actually a rebuttal to Mexico goalkeeper goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who claimed recently that the USMNT is mirroring Mexico's football program.

Here's exactly what Ochoa said, per ESPN: “Mexico is the mirror in which the [U.S.] wants to see itself and wants to copy.”

What's even funnier is that Pulisic prepared in advance for the celebration. Of course it's common in football and he could opt not to show it had he not scored, but you've got to love the confidence to have such strong statement ready.

And sure enough, the Pulisic and USMNT made a strong statement with their latest victory. They are now on top of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifier standings, tied with Mexico with 14 points but ahead on goal differential. The win puts them well in place to make the 2022 World Cup set in Qatar.

Captain America sure knows how to pay back.
