According to FightfulSelect.com, WWE star Cody Rhodes is set to have surgery on his pectoral muscle after battling through the injury in last night's Hell In A Cell main event. Rhodes tore the pectoral muscle completely off the bone while weight training for the main event just days before. After reports surfaced that Rhodes was injured, WWE confirmed the rumors, putting out a tweet just before the show that Rhodes was indeed injured, but was still set to compete.

The American Nightmare gained respect from fans as they gasped when he took off his jacket to reveal a gruesome bruise, showcasing how real his injury was. Surprisingly, Rhodes and his opponent Seth Rollins still wrestled just as long as they likely would have without the injury, going over 24 minutes in the ring. The match has gained high praise from fans, but the biggest takeaway was the grit Rhodes showcased.

The timetable for Rhodes' return is unknown at the moment, but if other pectoral tears are any indication, Rhodes will likely be out of action for the next 5-6 months. Wrestlers such as Triple E, Elias, Hiromu Takahashi, and John Cena have all endured similar injuries, with Cena somehow returning in just four months.

If that is the timetable, Cody Rhodes will miss the Money In The Bank premium live event and thus be unable to hold the Money In The Bank briefcase as many thought he would. However, it would give him enough time to return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in 2023, allowing him to return similarly to Cena at the Royal Rumble in 2008 from the same injury.
