Nestor Cortes has been nothing short of electric for the New York Yankees this season, dominating throughout the first month of the season. After another sensational start on Monday, Cortes received some glowing praise from one of the game's great hitters, Andrew McCutchen. Cutch took to Twitter to share what makes Cortes so difficult to hit while praising the Yankees' hurler on a gem of an outing.

McCutchen described what makes Cortes' fastball so effective, saying that despite the pitch clocking in at 91-94 MPH typically, it appears to be coming in much faster from the batter's perspective. McCutchen said Cortes' fastball can feel like it's going as fast as 97 MPH due to his unique delivery and alternating arm angles.

Cortes stunned the Texas Rangers on Monday, silencing them across 7.1 shutout innings. He struck out 11 batters, walked 4, and surrendered just 1 hit in the outing. While he didn't receive a win for his performance, due to the Yankees bats not waking up until late in the game, Cortes' dominance on the mound did not go unnoticed by fans, and apparently, by his fellow competitors.

While McCutchen is no longer the MVP caliber star he was back in his heyday, he's one of the most experienced veterans in the game, and he has a ton of knowledge about a batter's approach to the plate. For him to give such immense praise to Cortes is just another testament to how dominant the southpaw has been in 2022, and the Yankees will surely be hoping the 27-year-old can keep it up throughout the year.
