The New York Yankees are looking all over the MLB landscape for roster upgrades. If they want to get serious about contending, they will have to bring in several new players at premium positions

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Yankees placed a call about one of their biggest archenemies before the lockout: Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa. They will have to sign him to a huge contract but he would undoubtedly be worth it.

Correa becomes the latest star on the Yankees wishlist. First baseman Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson are high on their list. Landing one of them and Correa would give the Bronx Bombers a tremendous infield. Bringing Correa to New York would elicit a wide range of emotions from the fanbase.

On one hand, Correa would be an incredible addition to the Yankees, who have a desperate need at shortstop. He won the Platnim Glove last season while setting career highs in home runs (26) and walk-to-strikeout ratio (0.65). The 27-year-old is at the peak of his game and is one of the best players at his position, if not all of baseball.

On the other hand, Correa was a key member of the team that beat the Yankees several times in the postseason on the trash can-banging Astros. He also took a huge shot at franchise legend Derek Jeter for his vastly overrated defense.

New York poaching one of the Astros' most important position players after already luring Gerrit Cole away would be perfect payback. But it may also be tough to pull off, as Correa will be pursued heavily once the lockout ends.
