Many general managers across the majors already have a close watch on the upcoming MLB trade deadline. For New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, he reportedly has one versatile outfielder on his radar for a possible trade in the coming weeks.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, the Yankees will “consider” making a move for Kansas City Royals left fielder Andrew Benintendi.

Heyman also noted that the Yankees will head into the trade deadline with an eye on looking to acquire an outfielder.

Benintendi is reportedly not expected to have a shortage of suitors interested in completing a trade for him later this season. ESPN’s Jeff Passan recently noted that “everyone wants” the outfielder. He also projected that the Royals could receive an “absolute haul” for the seventh-year talent, who is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career later this year.

More so, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi recently listed several teams that could end up being potential suitors for Benintendi, including the Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers.

Benintendi has been among the bright spots on a Royals team that currently sits in last place in the AL Central standings with a 31-51 record. He has so far posted career highs in batting average (.318) and OBP (.387).

With his experience in patrolling the left and center field spots, Benintendi sure could be of formidable use for multiple teams that already have an eye on the stretch run of the campaign.
