For some reason, football fans seem to universally hate Thursday Night Football. Whether it's because of odd matchups, the primetime schedule or even the quality of the actual games – it seems like there's always something to critique about these mid-week episodes of the NFL. Though some may argue that watching football on a Thursday would be better than nothing, a couple of handful of TNF games give us a reason to think otherwise. Here are the 10 worst Thursday Night Football games in NFL history so far.

10. Minnesota at Green Bay – December 21, 2006

It was a quiet Thursday night in the Lambeau Field in Green Bay when the Green Bay Packers hosted the visiting Minnesota Vikings. There was a lot of buzz building up to this game since a lot were speculating that this might be the last time legendary QB Brett Favre would play for his home turf and unfortunately, the iconic signal-caller had a terrible outing. The Hall of Famer finished the game 26-50 for 285 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns. One of his interceptions was caught by Vikings CB Fred Smoot for a 47 yard return TD which put the Vikings up by a point in the third quarter. Favre would then salvage his night as he helped the Packers offense get into field goal distance and set-up Dave Rayner's game-winning field goal. The game ended 9-7 in favor of the Packers and Favre would go on to play one more season for the franchise.

9. Chicago at Miami — November 18, 2010

The Dolphins seemingly woke up on the wrong side of the bed when they faced the visiting Chicago Bears in November 18, 2010. Miami's woeful evening was highlighted by an Earl Bennett fumble in the second quarter even if Bears CB Vontae Davis was in no position to contest. The Dolphins' evening went from bad to worst as they continued to allow Chicago to score on three field goals from kicker Robbie Gould. Both teams couldn't advance the ball much and if not for Gould's field goals, it could've easily been 0-0 at this point. The Bears finally found the end zone late in the third as RB Matt Forte rushed for a 2-yard TD. The game ended 16-0 for Chicago.

8. New York Giants at Carolina – September 20, 2012

The New York Giants stomped their way to Carolina as the reigning defending champions rolled over the hosting Carolina Panthers in a packed Bank of America Stadium. The Giants were actually missing the services of three starters but it didn't matter as two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning made the most out of his healthy roster that Thursday. The QB outclassed up and coming Panthers' signal caller Cam Newton as the Giants were dominant from the get go. The defending champions were up 23-0 until midway through the third quarter when Newton rushed for his own TD and pulled one back for the home team. But the Giants went on to put the game away by scoring 10 more points in the fourth quarter and capped off the beating at 36-7.

7. Tampa Bay at Atlanta – September 18, 2014

Talk about one of the most disgraceful showcases in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history.

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan had one of the easiest games of his career as he took apart the Buccaneers defense, or lack there of. By this time, everyone was aware on how dangerous Ryan was when not under pressure and Tampa Bay somehow decided to give the QB the red carpet treatment in their home turf. The four-time Pro Bowler was clinical all evening as he completed 21 of his 24 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns.

In all fairness, the Bucs tried to stay competitive as they scored a couple of touchdowns in the fourth but they were already down by 56 at that point so who are we kidding.

6. Minnesota at Green Bay – October 2, 2014

A lot of things were going right for the Green Bay Packers when they hosted the Minnesota Vikings again in a 2014 edition of TNF. For starters, QB Aaron Rodgers had three TDs that evening which included his 200th career touchdown. RB Eddie Lacy also ran for a season-high of 105 yards and scored two touchdowns. But it was newly acquired DE Julius Peppers who stole the show. The nine-time Pro Bowler intercepted a pass and ran 49 yards to score his fifth career touchdown. Peppers became the first player in league history to record at least 100 sacks and 10 interceptions under his name. To top it all off, Peppers made his first career Lambeau Leap after his second quarter touchdown.

Oh yeah, the Vikings were also in attendance. They outscored the hosts 10-0 in the fourth and final quarter but this doesn't change the fact that the Packers basically toyed with Minnesota all-evening long. The final score ended 42-10 in favor of Green Bay.

5. Houston at New England – September 22, 2016

The Houston Texans put up against the New England Patriots early in Week 3 of the 2016 NFL Season. At this time, franchise QB Tom Brady was still serving his “Deflategate” suspension so it was rookie Jacoby Brissett who took charge of play calling duties against the visiting Texans. The Texans entered the match with a highly-touted defensive line but they had a difficult time containing the 23-year old QB.

Brissett had a 27-yard touchdown in the opening quarter while RB LeGarrette Blount added two rushing TDs. Placekicker also added a couple of field goals to mount a 27-0 blowout win against Houston. It was New England's first shutout win since in 4 years while the Texans were shutout for the first time since 2003.

4. Miami at Baltimore – October 26, 2017

Welcome back to the list, Miami Dolphins.

7 years after their 16-0 TNF loss against the Chicago Bears, the Dolphins were back with another scoreless defeat – this time against the Baltimore Ravens. Definitely one of the lowlights of the evening was linebacker's Kiko Alonso's high hit on Ravens QB Joe Flacco late in the second quarter which took out Flacco's helmet and left him bleeding and helped off the field. Flacco was eventually diagnosed with a concussion and a cut to his ear. At this point, the Ravens were up down big as it was 20-0 to their favor.

The bleeding continued for the Dolphins as they continued their sloppy play. Dolphins QB Matt Moore had two interceptions in the final quarter which the Ravens returned for two more TDs. Baltimore ended up with a 40-0 beating over the Dolphins which ended up to be the most lopsided shutout in their franchise history.

3. Denver at Arizona – October 18, 2018

When the Denver Broncos paid a visit to the Arizona Cardinals in 2018, they made sure it was a memorable one. For them, at least. The Broncos ended up returning two interceptions from Cardinals QB Josh Rosen in the first quarter alone. It was all-Denver from that point on as they continued to build a huge 35-3 by halftime. The home squad tried to keep things decent as they scored a TD of their own in the third quarter but unfortunately, the Cardinals offensive runs were few and far between all-Thursday long. Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders took home the game ball as he threw and caught a TD en route to a 45-10 massacre in the State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

2. New Orleans at Dallas – November 29, 2018

There was a lot of hype coming into this duel between two NFL playoff contenders but unfortunately, this TNF match-up ended up disappointing football fans everywhere. Though the Dallas Cowboys still managed to pull off an upset against the red-hot New Orleans Saints, it sure wasn't a pretty one. Dak Prescott completed 24 of his 28 passes for 248 yards and converted the only TD for Dallas as he found Ezekiel Elliot just before the opening quarter ended.

Drew Brees had a terrible game as the former Super Bowl MVP opened the game with four consecutive incompletions. He finished only 18 of his 28 passes for 127 yards. His dismal passing evening was saved by a late touchdown pass in the third quarter but Brees still ended with a 71.6 passer rating, one of his lowest totals in his entire career.

There were also a handful of bad calls which during the game which was the pretty much summed up how awful this NFL game was.

1. Pittsburgh at Cleveland – November 14, 2019

Who can forget one of the ugliest incidents in recent NFL history?

The Cleveland Browns' 21-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11 of the 2019 NFL season was marred by an ugly brawl late in the match, making this edition of TNF one of the ugliest ever in league history.

The NFL game was more or less done when an awful fight between Browns DE Myles Garrett and Steelers QB Mason Rudolph broke out. Garret sacked Rudolph with just eight seconds to go in regulation and after spending a few seconds in the ground, the two were caught in a scuffle that quickly took a turn for the worse. Garret grabbed Rudolph's helmet and swung it at the QB hitting Rudolph's head. This inevitably resulted into a fight between Garrett and Steelers lineman Maurkice Pouncey who punched and kicked Garrett after he hit Rudolph. Browns DT Larry Ogunjobi was also dragged into the tussle as he pushed the helmetless Rudolph to the ground. Garrett, Pouncey and Ogunjobi were all ejected from the game and the former first-round pick got the worse penalty among all of them after he was fined $45,623 and was issued an indefinite suspension. Garret would go on to miss the remainder of the 2019 season.
