It feels like almost every franchise could use an upgrade at the tight end position this year. For that reason, we'll be taking a look at Zach Ertz and some potential landing spots for him in the 2022 NFL free agency. The veteran proved he can still be a reliable pass option with the Arizona Cardinals and could be a great addition for any team contending for a Super Bowl.

Zach Ertz can probably sign a decent-sized contract this offseason. He's been consistent throughout his career and can provide stability in the tight end position for any team. Considering the upcoming NFL Draft is loaded with pass-catching talent, a smart front office could sign Ertz to win now while drafting his eventual replacement in April.

It'll be interesting to see how many teams will show interest in Zach Ertz. However, only one franchise will be able to sign him to the roster. The three teams on this list are bound to be playoff contenders next season and Ertz could be the missing piece each franchise needs. We'll see how it plays out, but there should be plenty of interest to sign the veteran tight end in the 2022 NFL free agency period.

With that said, here are three potential Zach Ertz free agency landing spots.

Zach Ertz Free Agency Landing Spots

3. Los Angeles Chargers

Considering Justin Herbert immediately emerged as a superstar quarterback, the Los Angeles Chargers need to go all-in on acquiring talented pass catchers. Jared Cook didn't provide much consistency as the tight end last year and this team needs to improve the wide receiver core as well. Zach Ertz could be a perfect tight end for LA to improve offensively.

Signing Ertz gives the Chargers a consistent tight end for at least one year. If Los Angeles can follow that up by re-signing Mike Williams and drafting more pass catchers, then this offense should drastically improve. For that reason, LA should highly consider adding Zach Ertz to the roster.

2. Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are going to make big changes to the tight end department. They had one of the worst tight end groups in the league last season and it's expected the front office makes drastic changes. However, Tennessee is in a Super Bowl window right now and they'll need a veteran to provide immediate production. This makes Zach Ertz a perfect target in the 2022 NFL free agency.

Zach Ertz gives the Titans a reliable pass option who blocks well. That is exactly what was missing from this offense last season. This franchise is likely to select a tight end in the NFL Draft as well. So, signing Ertz gives Tennessee the production they need to possibly win the Super Bowl while also acting as a leader for a young tight end selected in the draft. Look for this team to be all over the veteran tight end if he enters free agency.

1. Arizona Cardinals

At the end of the day, the best place for Zach Ertz is to remain with the Arizona Cardinals. He proved to have solid chemistry with Kyler Murray, as the offense improved with Ertz on the field. Re-signing him allows the veteran tight end to remain with the same offensive scheme where he could have an even bigger impact next season.

Similar to the Chargers and Titans, it might be smart for the Cardinals to select a rookie tight end in the draft. Even so, Arizona shouldn't prioritize that position if they re-sign Zach Ertz. He gives the offense consistency and is a veteran leader for the offense. Look for the front office to potentially bring Ertz back for at least one more year to maintain the offensive prowess.
