The Dallas Cowboys season is over, which means it's time to look ahead to the next one. Dak Prescott, his teammates, and their fans have gone year after year with the “This is our year” mindset, but nothing seems to come to fruition.

While many players are still locked in for another season in Dallas, many others have contracts that expire before the 2022-2023 season. Here are the three most crucial free agents that the Cowboys must re-sign for next year to be “their year.”

Cowboys Free Agency Re-Signing

3. Keanu Neal – Linebacker

Keanu Neal's one-year, $4 million contract with the Cowboys ended with the Cowboys' short postseason run. He is one of the top linebackers available in the 2022 NFL Free Agency, including Anthony Barr and Dont'a Hightower.

This season, Neal recorded 70 tackles: 42 solo and 28 assisted, along with four tackles for loss and one sack. The young yet experienced middle linebacker is a must re-sign for the Cowboys for them to keep up with the dominant quarterbacks thriving throughout the league. Given his age (only 26 years old), the Cowboys should consider a longer contract, rather than a one-year extension.

2. Michael Gallup – Wide Receiver

Michael Gallup is another huge name for the Cowboys, just on the opposite side of the football as Neal. Gallup's four-year, $3,523,980 contract with Dallas from 2018 expired this season. If the Cowboys are smart this offseason, they'll sign him for another four years.

The 25-year-old wide receiver was one of Prescott's top five offensive targets this year. He had 35 receptions for 445 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, Gallup's season was cut short due to an ACL tear at the end of the regular season, but he has all offseason to recover.

While he most likely won't be available for the beginning of the season, Gallup is more of a long-term investment. If the Cowboys can make the playoffs again, he will likely be able to contribute to their postseason successes.

Similar to Neal, the Cowboys needs to keep these youthful yet experienced players on their roster as the foundation for a promising team for years to come.

1 . Dalton Schultz – Tight End

Finally, the most important player that the Cowboys must re-sign in the 2022 NFL Free Agency is Dalton Schultz. The tight end began his career with Dallas after signing a four-year, $2,912,359 contract back in 2018.

Since joining the franchise, Schultz continues to be a key offensive contributor. He was a top-three offensive weapon for Prescott with 78 receptions, 808 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns on the year. 2021-2022 was Schultz's most productive season yet, and the tight end doesn't appear to be slowing down, only picking up.

His stats say enough, but Schultz is also valuable to the franchise due to his ability to stay healthy. Ezekiel Elliott and Michael Gallup are both prone to injuries, and Schultz is capable of staying on the field and making big plays in their absence.

Again, another young and promising player, Schultz is a must for the Cowboys during the 2022 NFL Free Agency.
