The Jacksonville Jaguars have only been around since 1995, and for the most part their franchise has been filled with some disappointment. Even through all the disappointment, there have been some good teams in their history. Let's take a look at the three greatest Jaguars teams in history.

1996

The Jaguars' 1996 season was their second year in the league. After going 4-12 in the first year of existence, the Jaguars showed some life in year two. The Jaguars were led under center by Mark Brunell, and the first half of the season didn't go well. Heading into their Week 10 bye, the Jaguars had only won three of their six games. The bye was all the team needed to turn around the season, winning six of their last seven.

In Wild Card weekend, no one thought they had a chance against the Buffalo Bills, but the offense did just enough putting up 30 points. In the divisional round, it was even more of an upset against the 13-3 Denver Broncos. Jacksonville ended up defeating the No. 1-seeded Broncos in a 30-27 victory in one of the biggest upsets in playoff history.

In the AFC Championship game, the Patriots' defense was too much, ending their season.

1999

The 1999 season for the Jaguars was all about wide receiver Jimmy Smith. Smith finished second in the NFL with 1,636 yards, which was also a franchise record. The Jaguars finished the regular season with a 14-2 record with the only two losses coming against the Tennessee Titans. In the first round of the playoffs, the Jaguars had no issue with the Miami Dolphins, pouncing Dan Marino's team, 62-7. But in the AFC Championship game, they had to play the Titan again. For the third time that season, the Jaguars lost to the Titans.

2017

The 2017 Jaguars team had an elite defense that led them to all kinds of success. They finished the regular season with a 10-6 record, which was good enough to win the AFC South. Heading into the playoffs there was some concern though as they had lost their last two games.

In the wild card game, the offense didn't do a whole lot, but the defense stepped up like they had all season giving up only three points.

In the divisional round, the defense struggled, but the offense was elite putting up 45 points, which was enough to win by three points. In the AFC Championship game against the Patriots, it looked like they were on their way to the Super Bowl. The Jaguars were up 17-10 heading into the 4th quarter, but 14 points given up cost them.

The season ended in disappointment, but it was still a special season.
