The New England Patriots have earned their 1oth trip to the Super Bowl after beating the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game. However, their victory has not come without a bit of controversy.

The Jaguars were penalized far more often than the Patriots were. As a result, players from Jacksonville were not shy about expressing their frustration with the officiating crew, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco:

“The stats speak for themselves,” Jaguars defensive lineman Malik Jackson said.

The Jaguars were penalized six times for 98 yards while the Patriots were flagged just once for 10 yards. Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye admitted the frustration started to mount when Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola got away with a headbutt on safety Tashaun Gipson:

“I was pissed because I seen Amendola head-butt the hell out of Gip in front of the ref and you all don't call nothing?” Bouye said. “It don't make no sense man; it's a lot of stuff that don't make no sense. I have a lot of respect for these people in this locker room. They kept fighting, we all kept fighting. We knew there was stuff we couldn't control, and we kept it close.”

The most demoralizing play undoubtedly came when Bouye was flagged for a crucial pass interference penalty which gave the Patriots 32 yards and ultimately led to a touchdown. However, it was clear the Jaguars felt that the calls did not go both ways.

Interestingly enough, the Patriots' lone penalty was the lowest amount in an AFC Championship Game since it happened to them in a win over the Baltimore Ravens in 2011. Needless to say, the conspiracy pot will continue to stir for as long as New England manages to succeed.
