The Dallas Cowboys currently sit with a 6-4 record and have a one-game lead over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. They have looked like a playoff team for most of the season and have the inside track to be playing beyond Week 17.

There are some who believe that the Eagles could pass them and keep them out of the playoffs but signs point towards those individuals being wrong. Let's break down four reasons the Cowboys will make the playoffs.

4. Cowboys>Eagles

There is a very good chance that only one team from the NFC East makes the playoffs and that battle is coming down to the Cowboys and Eagles.

Even if the Cowboys have a few slip-ups before the season ends in terms of losing games, there is no chance the Eagles are going to win out. The Eagles and Cowboys have to play again this year and even though that game is in Philadelphia, the Cowboys should get the upper hand in that game.

The Eagles also have a tough game left on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks that could very well end in a loss. As long as the Cowboys beat the Eagles in Week 16 this division is theirs, and that game should end in a Cowboys victory.

3. The Cowboys running game has been terrible..and they are still winning games

Ezekiel Elliott is still one of the best running backs in football and even though he is struggling, it won't last forever. In the team's last game against the Detroit Lions, Zeke found the end zone but only had 45 yards on 16 attempts.

Even with that bad game from Elliott, the Cowboys were still able to come away from the win. On the season Elliott has rushed for 833 yards and seven touchdowns.

Soon he should get back to his old ways of running wild and being a problem for opposing defenses. When that happens with the way the rest of the offense is performing, teams are going to be in trouble.

2. Cowboys secondary

The Cowboys secondary isn't filled with star players but they are a solid crew who are making life tough on opposing quarterbacks.

On the season the Cowboys are giving up only 216.9 yards per game through the air which is 7th best in football. The defense as a whole is only giving up 19.7 points per game.

The defense doesn't need to be elite with the way the offense is performing, but the secondary is a real strength on this team.

1. Dak Prescott

The number one reason the Cowboys are going to make the playoffs is pretty obvious, quarterback Dak Prescott. The Cowboys cost themselves a lot of money by not getting a long term extension done last season because hs going to be a lot more expensive now.

Prescott has thrown for 3,221 yards, 21 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. There aren't the questions anymore about when Prescott is going to make the big mistake, because those are few and far between now.

Prescott is an MVP candidate and is going to lead the Cowboys into the playoffs.
