Jimmy Garoppolo has his fair share of “haters”. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has long been criticized for his mediocre play despite expectations for him. Getting into multiple Super Bowl games has not changed the tune of his detractors.
According to Deebo Samuel, though, Jimmy Garoppolo deserves more respect than hate. In an emphatic Tweet, the do-it-all 49ers wide receiver argued for his teammates' case, saying his winning ways makes him a star in his own right.

Garoppolo isn't the flashiest quarterback in the league. He won't wow you with jaw-dropping passes like Patrick Mahomes or running like Lamar Jackson. However, he provides the most important stat for the team: wins. With Jimmy G under center, the 49ers are a whopping 31 – 14. That's more than you can say for other talented quarterbacks.
The 49ers' success this season has been due to their supporting cast around Garoppolo making huge plays. Deebo Samuel's emergence as a legitimate two-way threat has paved the way for other receivers like Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings to shine. George Kittle is still one of the best tight ends in the league. Elijah Mitchell, when he's healthy, anchors their strong running game.
Their biggest test this season, though, will come in the NFC Championship Game. The 49ers may have had the Los Angeles Rams number for the last few years, but LA is coming in on a hot streak. Jimmy G's domination of the Rams will need to continue for San Francisco to have a shot at getting back to the Super Bowl.
