Meanwhile, there has been non-stop drama regarding Deebo Samuel. The superstar receiver is in talks for a new contract extension, but trade rumors continue to expand for now.
Samuel publicly called out reporters for breaking the news on his trade request with San Francisco. However, during a guest appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Ian Rapoport claims, “Deebo Samuel basically told the 49ers ‘I want to be traded and don't make an offer.'” Rapoport continues to say that he doesn't believe, “this is about the money.”

We've heard several reasons why Samuel wants to be traded away from San Francisco. However, the one that seems to have the most support from reporters across the media is that Deebo Samuel wants to strictly play wide receiver. Playing both running back and receiver is a ton of work and beats up the body drastically. Perhaps the 49ers could make him a wide receiver full-time, but it might be too late for the front office to mend the relationship.
We'll see how it plays out. Multiple franchises would love to have Deebo Samuel on their roster. With the 2022 NFL Draft right around the corner, we might see the star receiver dealt away in a big trade during the first round. If not, then the 49ers need to mend the relationship and sign Samuel to a contract extension.
