Third-year tight end George Kittle continues to prove that he has the chance to be one of the best all time at his position by the time it's all said and done.

With 12 catches for 131 yards as of writing in the San Francisco 49ers Sunday matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Kittle moves his career total receiving yards to 2,777.

With the performance, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end passes Mike Ditka for the most receiving yards through a player's first three seasons as a tight end.

Ditka, one of the best players in the '60s reeled in 2,774 yards in his first three seasons and 5,812 yards for his career. Now behind both Ditka and Kittle is former New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski who had 2,663 total yards in his first three seasons.

Last year, Kittle had one of the best seasons of all time for a tight end. The former Iowa product set an NFL record for the most single season receiving yards with 1,377 while also adding five touchdowns.

The 49ers tight end hasn't been quite as effective in 2019 but has also had to deal with injuries that caused him to miss multiple games. Prior to this Sunday, Kittle had 60 receptions for 754 yards and four touchdowns.

In only his second year in the league, the former fifth round pick had already cemented himself as the best tight end in the league. Kittle's strong play has continued and he has become perhaps the most valuable offensive weapon on a San Francisco squad that has gone 11-2 and sits atop the NFC West division.
