The San Francisco 49ers are not going to have the services of long snapper Kyle Nelson for the rest of the season and for several weeks of the 2019 NFL campaign.

In a report by Field Yates of ESPN, Nelson has been suspended for 10 regular season weeks, meaning he’ll be out for the 49ers’ final four games this season and for the first six weeks of the next NFL calendar.

A suspension that long usually carries a connotation that something serious was done by the suspended party, though, the 49ers have yet to announce the reason behind Nelson’s punishment. It’s also unknown as of the moment whether San Francisco has any plans of divulging further details apart from the fact that they have banished Nelson for a lengthy duration.

As the 49ers’ only long snapper, Nelson has appeared in all of the team’s first 12 games this season, so his suspension most likely means that the team will be sifting through the market for his replacement.

Nelson’s suspension also came after San Francisco held a tryout for six long snappers last week, per Howard Balzer of BalzerFootball.com.

49ers tryouts reported: LBs Tyrell Adams (signed to PS), Thurston Armbrister, Michael Wilhoite; LSs Tanner Carew, Jon Condo, Lucas Gravelle, Colin Holba, Taybor Pepper; WRs Max McCaffrey (signed to PS), Jordan Smallwood, Jordan Veasy.

The 49ers, who are 2-10, have a date with the Denver Broncos at home this weekend.
