Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver recently reached out to 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo via Instagram and expressed an interest in running some routes for the rehabbing quarterback.

Owens does not shy away from voicing his opinion, but this time around he appears to be willing to lend a helping hand. T.O. believes he can still play the game at a high level and has even stayed in fantastic physical shape since retiring years ago.

“I know that I do have the ability to play. I know everybody sees the shape that I'm in. There's a lot of athletes that play their prospective sports, but there are few guys that defy the odds. I think I'm one of those guys.”

Owens was a fantastic receiver in his prime and undoubtedly had some of his best years coming up with the 49ers. Although Garoppolo has some excellent receivers at his disposal, it couldn't hurt to take a 49ers legend up on a unique offer. Several current 49ers players reached out on the Instagram post as well including running back Jerick McKinnon and rookie receiver Dante Pettis.

There's a lot of hope in seeing a healthy San Francisco offense so the team is likely counting the days where they can get their quarterback for the 2019 season. The 49ers are lightyears away from their elite days of winning Super Bowl titles, but the team has a great deal of potential. Owens may very well get to lace up once again and help the 49ers offense prepare for next season.
