The domestic violence case involving Las Vegas Aces' guard Riquna Williams took a sharp turn this week when it was revealed that the charges against her were dropped due to her wife failing to show up at a preliminary hearing as well as refusing to cooperate with investigators. When Williams was arrested and the charges were brought against her, the Aces announced that she had been barred from participating in team activities. With the charges being dropped, Williams' attorney revealed that she was hoping to rejoin the team ahead of their upcoming playoff run. On Friday, Aces head coach Becky Hammon stated that Williams' status with the team had not changed as per Andy Yamashita of The Las Vegas Review-Journal.

As reported by Yamashita, Becky Hammon and the Aces are aware that the charges against Riquna Williams had been dropped. Williams has not suited up for the Aces at all this season as she had been dealing with a back injury. She was arrested back in July and has not been allowed to be around the team ever since.

This is the second time in Williams' career that she's faced felony domestic violence charges. The first reported incident came back in 2019 when she was playing for the Los Angeles Sparks. Williams was suspended without pay by the WNBA for ten games that season. Those charges were also ultimately dropped.

Williams is a ten-year WNBA veteran and was a member of the Aces 2022 championship team. In addition to the Aces and Sparks, Williams played for the then Tulsa Shock from 2012-2015.
