Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora comes out in 2022

During Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft gave us a taste of what kind of game we were going to get. But that right there was the problem for many fans. It was simply a taste. No other information was given by Ubisoft other than the footage, the title, and the year it's going to be released.

Recently, VentureBeat was able to speak with Disney and Pixar Games vice president, Luigi Priore. He was able to give a bit of information about the game and how they wanted to proceed with it. He noticed that for quite some time, video games based on films were just a way for gamers to reenact or replay the popular scenes. However, that is no longer the trend. Avid gamers these days want rich stories, vast open lands to explore, and a way for both the character and the player to experience growth.

That is exactly what we're getting with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Although the game itself isn't attached to the films, it will be canonA new story, an unexplored part of Pandora, and all-new characters. No one knows yet if familiar characters from the 2009 film will make an appearance but we're definitely going to keep our eyes open.

Avatar is one of the biggest films to date. The James Cameron film made it big at the box office so it's no surprise that sequels and eventually a video game were going to be released. Cameron is a big fan of video games and their potential. He once stated in an interview with MTV  that he plans to create more games after Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
