With Axie Infinity‘s utility token SLP dropping in value consistently, Sky Mavis has decided to step in and offer more drastic solutions. In Axie Infinity Season 19, various changes will be implemented by the developers to rebalance the game's economy and hopefully bring SLP's value back up.
In the most recent Dev Journal post on substack, Sky Mavis detailed the changes coming to Axie Infinity Season 19 – all changes were done to rebalance the game's economy. There were also explanations on why they are taking these steps. Such steps include resetting everyone's MMR to 1,200 during the Season 19 Off-Season, re-balancing SLP rewards in-game, increasing AXS rewards to leaderboard rankers and lower SLP rewards for high MMR players, and reducing SLP rewards for botting behaviors or bot-like gameplay. Sky Mavis will also soon implement different ways to burn or consume Axies in an effort to make the NFT critters more scarce – however, this hasn't been confirmed to be taking place in the next season.
Finally, in the most circumstantial occasions, Sky Mavis may also choose to use the Marketplace fee treasury to buy back SLP from the community – effectively restricting the rotating supply of SLP.
Perhaps the most important update comes in the form of the MMR reset to 1,200. This was done to eliminate “unnecessary supply” which Sky Mavis hopes to help balance the SLP economy.
