Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero is still yet to make his season debut with the Catalan giants this year.

Aguero has been sidelined due to a right calf injury that he suffered in August. At the time, the club projected that he would miss 10 weeks of action due to the injury.

The veteran Argentine striker has made promising progress with his injury over the past weeks. During the October international break, he featured in a scheduled training session with Barca and then later went on to score a goal in an unofficial training match against Spanish side UE Cornella.

All eyes are now centered on whether Aguero may make his season debut for Barca in its upcoming La Liga home fixture against Valencia.

During a press conference ahead of the match, Barca manager Ronald Koeman did not provide a definitive answer to this dilemma but rather issued a key update on the Argentine's injury rehab process.

“He has improved quite a bit lately,” Koeman said. “He played 25 minutes the other day, in the friendly match we played. He's doing well, but he lacks physicality and match rhythm, and that comes with games.

“There’s a possibility he will be included in the squad. It’s not a question of quality, because inside the box he’s a great player and will be able to give the team a lot in attack. What is most important is that he’s physically 100 percent.”

Barca sure could use a spark from its attack upfront, as it has scored a mere four goals in its last six matches in all competitions. The Catalan side is coming off of a 2-0 league defeat to Atletico Madrid where it recorded two shots on target.

Barcelona will look to avoid a third straight winless result in all competitions with a possible league win over Valencia.
