The Chicago Bears have acquired wide receiver Dontrelle Inman from the Los Angeles Diego Chargers for a conditional seventh-round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Chicago hasn’t had much use for their wide receivers in recent weeks with rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky only completing 12 passes in 23 attempts for 220 yards over his last two games, both Bears wins. But Dontrelle Inman should provide a much-needed receiving option for Trubisky if he’s handed more responsibility later in the season.

Dontrelle Inman proved to be a productive player when given the opportunity to play with Keenan Allen out last season, though. He started all 16 games for the Chargers and totaled 58 catches for 810 yards with four touchdowns, which were all new career-highs.

However, Inman has had just two catches for nine yards in four appearances this season, as his playing time has been limited by the return of Allen. The recent return of first-round pick Mike Williams from injury also didn't do Inman any favors.

Inman bolsters a Bears wide receiving corps that has already lost its top two players, Cameron Meredith and Kevin White, to season-ending injuries early in the year. Kendall Wright is far and away the team’s top wideout with 20 catches for 236 yards and a touchdown.

No matter who ends up getting the most significant number of snaps at receiver for the Bears moving forward, it will be interesting to see just how trusting Chicago is with its rookie signal-caller. Last weekend, he only attempted seven passes. In 2017, that isn't exactly a lot.
