The Chicago Bears selected former Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft despite signing longtime NFL tight end Jimmy Graham this past offseason. With Kmet expected to contribute right off the bat for the Bears, his college head coach in Brian Kelly has already heaped some serious praise upon the soon-to-be rookie pass catcher.

“I’ve had a number of tight ends that are doing exceedingly well and have been All-Pros in the NFL,” Kelly recently told reporters, via USA TODAY Sports. “Cole Kmet will be in line with all of those guys.”

A coach throughout the collegiate ranks for quite some time while leading or assisting some seriously well-regarded programs, Kelly previously coached the likes of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Tyler Eifert and Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph.

“What they’re getting is an athletic tight end that is going to impact their offense immediately,” Kelly added of Kmet. “He’s smart. He’s got the capabilities to get better and better as he continues to develop…Having a lot of tight ends on your roster is one thing. Having Cole Kmet, that’s another.”

It is also worth noting that Kmet will definitely fit into the Bears offensive scheme alongside the aforementioned Graham as Chicago previously elected to part ways with former Philadelphia Eagles and current Indianapolis Colts tight end Trey Burton earlier this offseason. Learning from Graham while also contributing right off the bat isn't the worst formula for success atop the highest level if you are Kmet.
