Recently fired former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell could potentially be in the mix for a spot in Matt Nagy’s coaching staff on the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs reports.

Sources have said that former Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell could wind up in the mix as well. Bevell has not worked with Nagy previously, but they do have a common link. Nagy had a close relationship with Brad Childress in Kansas City. When Childress was the head coach of the Vikings from 2006-2010, Bevell served as his offensive coordinator.

The Bears are currently in search of a quarterbacks coach to help Nagy and new offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich mentor incoming second-year QB Mitchell Trubisky. Although, some other role or title could also be in play for the highly experienced Bevell if he decides to come to Chicago.

Bevell saw his seven-year run in Seattle end after the Seahawks finished 9-7, in part due to an inconsistent offense. Nevertheless, he did a great job for the most part during his stint in Seattle as he oversaw some of the best offensive seasons in franchise history and helped the Seahawks to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.

Bevell was actually a finalist for the Bears’ head coaching job in 2013. Unfortunately for him, the job eventually went to Marc Trestman.

With that in mind, there's a chance Bevell could potentially hold out for another coordinator or even head coaching role as opposed to working below Nagy and Helfrich in Chicago. There are still several openings around the league so Bevell may not be ready to commit himself to a lower-rung position with the Bears just yet.
