The Chicago Bears are going to be holding an open quarterback competition between Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles once training camp begins. Despite being the underdog, Matt Nagy claims that Trubisky is embracing the open competition with Foles.

Of course, earlier this offseason, the Bears acquired Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars in a trade. On the other hand, Chicago chose to decline Trubisky's fifth-year option after selecting him with the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Since being selected in 2017, Trubisky has failed to prove that he was worthy of being taken early in the first round. It also doesn't help that he was taken before Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes in the same draft.

Without a doubt, Foles was brought in to bring some competition for Trubisky. At the same time, he has previous experience with Nagy, when Nagy was the offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. Provided that, Foles obviously has the upper-hand in the competition with Trubisky.

On the other hand, Trubisky is entering a pivotal year in his career with the Bears. Seeing that Chicago didn't pick up his fifth-year option, Trubisky is likely entering his final year with the franchise that drafted him in 2017. Just a season ago, he regressed, throwing for 3,138 yards and only 17 touchdowns.

Still, with all of the pressure on him, Trubisky is prepared to compete for the starting job. As a matter of fact, Nagy seems to believe that Trubisky is embracing the competition, which could make things interesting in the coming months.
