In an attempt to replace current Philadelphia Eagles running back Jordan Howard, the Chicago Bears notably added former Iowa State Cyclones running back David Montgomery as a result of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Though Montgomery will initially split carries with veteran running back Tarik Cohen, the soon-to-be rookie rusher will surely encounter a solid workload upon ultimately suiting up for the Bears in 2019-20.

Luckily for Chicago, it appears as though Montgomery's collegiate career at Iowa State more than prepared him for the NFL stage.

“One of the safest runners in this draft with a desirable combination of size, vision, toughness and creativity,” reads his 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com. “He runs with impressive calm and instincts in the midst of interior mayhem, weaving and battering his way through traffic. Smart teams will recognize his ability to create yardage for himself with his eyes, footwork, contact balance and power. Should alleviate concerns about his lack of explosiveness. Montgomery has a pro-ready game and Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) value as a good NFL starter.”

Of course, the Bears will enter the upcoming 2019-20 campaign as the defending NFC North Champions.

Though the upstart Bears surprised just about everyone in 2019-20, there will definitely be no surprises coming out of the “Windy City” this time around as the Detriot Lions, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will spend all offseason looking to dethrone their divisional counterpart.

Although the Lions aren't expected to put up much of a fight, the Packers and Vikings both managed to improve this offseason.
