The Chicago Bears thought they had a touchdown when rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky connected with veteran tight end Zach Miller in the end zone against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the touchdown call was overturned and the team may have lost Miller for the rest of the season as he suffered a gruesome leg injury in the process.

Miller was carted off the field after the touchdown play fell apart with bad news expected in terms of the severity of his leg injury. Miller's injury, in terms of how gruesome it was in real time, was reminiscent of the Gordon Hayward's of the Boston Celtics in which he dislocated his ankle while also suffering a broken left tibia in the NBA season opener earlier this month.

The Bears and Miller will have to wait and see just how severe his leg injury is, but it would be safe to assume that the 2017 NFL season is officially over for the veteran tight end.

Before going down with the potential season-ending injury, Miller was targeted twice and failed to record a reception.

During the 2017 campaign so far, Miller caught 20 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Chicago may now lean more on Dion Sims at the tight end position if Miller's injury is indeed season-ending.
