A.J. Green still hopes to earn another lucrative contract after the 2020 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Green is not concerned about his contract status for next offseason.

In speaking with Geoff Hobson of the team's official website, Green said it's not his top priority:

“We'll see. Whatever happens is going to happen. When the time comes, I'll be in the best shape to play my best ball this year no matter what happens. The best shape of my life.”

The 2019 season didn't go as expected for Green, who missed the entire season due to an ankle ailment he sustained in training camp. Prior to the season-ending injury, Green was entering the final year of his contract, hoping to earn a long-term deal this offseason.

Even though he failed to play in a single game a season ago, the Bengals placed their franchise tag on Green for 2020. As a result of the franchise tag, Green is set to make $17.8 million for the season.

Regardless of the franchise tag, Green is focused on earning himself a payday following the 2020 season. In an attempt to have a productive year in 2020, the veteran wideout wants to catch passes from rookie Joe Burrow as soon as he can.

At 31 years old, Green realizes that he's running out of time to sign a multi-year contract. Still, if Green is able to remain healthy and record the numbers we're used to seeing from him, he should net a decent contract next offseason. With that being said, it remains to be seen if his next deal is with the team that drafted him in 2011.
