There is good and bad news for Cincinnati Bengals fans. The good: A.J. Green is getting closer to full fitness. The bad: he will likely be out until Week 6 before he gets ready to play some snaps.

Adam Schefter reported Green's condition in his latest tweet. Bengals Nation's wait for his return seemingly will not see an end terribly soon. However, there's nothing they can do but hope for the best.

The seven-time Pro Bowler had to undergo surgery in order to fix torn ligaments in his left ankle. He already missed considerable playing time in 2018.

Zac Taylor is positive of his star wideout's progress in rehab. However, he is hesitant to give an exact date for his return, as he doesn't want to put pressure on his recovery.

“I take it week-to-week with him. He’s making the progress that we anticipated him making. There hasn’t been any setbacks,” Taylor said, per Sporting News. “He’s making steady progress.”

“I really hate to make a prediction on what his timeline is,” Taylor said earlier this week. “Because I think he's making the progress, we expect him to make.”

The Bengals could have used a player of Green's talent as they are slated to face their division rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. Both teams are still winless, so getting the win here means a lot for their respective seasons.

They are definitely missing his production on offense. While he only played nine games last season, he managed 694 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He was on pace to break his career-high of 11 if he wasn't sidelined.

There is no use crying over spilled milk, though. All they can do is hope that Green is ready to play by Week 7.
