Despite the incredible comeback victory from Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals during the AFC Championship, the team didn't escape without injury. Star tight end C.J. Uzomah sustained a gruesome-looking knee injury in the first quarter and did not return to the game. Well, after the win, the Bengals sent Uzomah in for testing, and the results were surprisingly encouraging. Per Ian Rapoport, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters on Monday that an MRI revealed Uzomah is dealing with an MCL sprain.

That's huge news for the Bengals, as it certainly looked as if Uzomah could be looking at a lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring his knee. Uzomah has been plagued by injuries in the past, too, having missed almost the entire 2020 season due to a torn Achilles. Fans will be thankful the 29-year-old avoided a more serious injury, and supporters will also be ecstatic to know that Taylor has not yet ruled Uzomah out for the Super Bowl.

Obviously, the veteran tight end will have an additional week of rest ahead of the Feb. 13 showdown against the Los Angeles Rams. The added time off will give him a fighting chance at getting off the injury report and getting on the field.

Uzomah has been a crucial part of the Bengals' postseason success. Through his first two playoff games, Uzomah had hauled in 13 receptions on 14 targets, racking up 135 yards and one touchdown. Prior to sustaining the knee injury on Sunday, Uzomah had been targeted twice by Burrow, but failed to come down with either pass.
