Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is keeping his 2022 goals a secret, but if there's one thing clear about his aspirations, it's the fact that he's looking to top what he did in his rookie year.

Chase won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021, all while making it to the Pro Bowl in his first year as well. He registered 81 receptions for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns, with his partnership with quarterback Joe Burrow proving to be a lethal weapon for the Bengals.

In fact, Chase recorded 368 receiving yards in the playoffs, which is the most by a rookie in postseason history. He was a key cog as the Bengals made it all the way to the Super Bowl LVI.

“I’m not going to say what they are, but I don’t think they’re hard,” Chase said of his 2022 goals, per Jay Morrison of The Athletic. “They’re a little more than last year, like catches and yards. I’ve still got to find my touchdown minimum.”

Sure enough, it will be quite hard for Ja'Marr Chase to improve his numbers given how high he set the bar. However, it is not without precedent even though there have been just few rookie receivers to increase their production in their second year.

The good thing about the Bengals is that Chase is focused on making sure he takes the next step in his game. While he doesn't have everything figured out, he is definitely hungry to become a better version of himself come 2022.

“Last year I was just out there running routes, having fun again,” Chase added. “Now I’ve got all the small details down, like learning how to set people up before the next route. And I feel more comfortable with the offense. Maybe I can move around a little more when we see different things on film. I feel like all of that’s going to make me a lot better this year.”

It remains to be seen if Chase can achieve the goals he set, but since we're talking about one of the best young players in the NFL today, it s not far-fetched.
