It has been a rough start to the 2017 NFL season, to say the least for the Cincinnati Bengals. The team is winless after their first two games and there's no telling when that first elusive victory will come.

Heading into Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers, the Bengals will be shorthanded with tight end Tyler Eifert ruled out of Sunday's game, according to ESPN's Katherine Terrell.

Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert will miss Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers because of a back injury, head coach Marvin Lewis said Friday.

Back in 2015, Eifert became one of the Bengals' best targets in the end zone. The tight end scored 13 touchdowns that season and started to get mentioned in the same breath as some of the league's elite players at that position.

Unfortunately, last season was a different story altogether as he dealt with numerous injury issues forcing him to miss eight games. This season might be more of the same for the Notre Dame product with his back flaring up and him catching only four passes in two games for 46 yards.

Along with Eifert being ruled out for the clash with the Packers, the Bengals will be without wideout John Ross, via Terrell.

Rookie wide receiver John Ross has also been ruled out for Week 3 with a knee injury.

Ross made his debut in Week 2 after sitting out Week 1, but only contributed with one rushing attempt for 12 yards. The lightning-quick receiver has yet to record his first reception in the NFL.
