Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow returned to practice on Wednesday with Week 1 just around the corner. The Bengals have been tight-lipped about when Burrow, who suffered a calf injury during training camp in July, will be ready for game action.

But Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made some interesting comments when speaking about Burrow on Thursday, remarks that bode well for his potential return, per Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati.

Taylor said that Burrow looked “good” and that he seemed like he didn't “miss many practices.”

The Bengals coach did elaborate on Burrow's workload, saying that the team is going to continue to take things day-by-day with the Pro Bowl signal-caller.

However, it has to be exciting to hear that Burrow seemingly hasn't missed a beat physically, especially given the scare fans were dealt during- and after- the injury occurred.

Burrow's Bengals teammate Ja'Marr Chase made headlines when he suggested that he wouldn't mind if his QB sat out until Week 5, as long as he was healthy.

That, coupled with Taylor's “several weeks” timeline, had fans and pundits wondering if Burrow would be ready for Week 1. But the star QB has been throwing on the side, notably before the Bengals' preseason action in August.

And judging by Taylor's comments and practice footage of Burrow, he might not be far off from an injury return.

That's potentially great news for the Bengals, who have gone 22-10 and advanced to the Super Bowl and AFC Championship Game in two full seasons with Burrow under center.

Cincinnati opens the season on the road against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.
