UFC 301: Pantoja vs. Erceg will be live from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as fans will be treated to a 14-fight card, stacked top-to-bottom with exciting action. 28 fighters will hit the scales ahead of their respective bouts, half of which are representing the home country of Brazil and one of the biggest Martial Arts fanbases in the world. Check out our UFC odds series for our UFC 301 Betting Props.

The Main Event is set to feature Flyweight Champion Alexandre Pantoja of Rio defend his belt against No. 10-ranked contender Steve Erceg of Australia. Pantoja will be making his second title defense after his latest unanimous victory over Brandon Royval. At 3-0, Erceg has had a quick climb to his first title shot, but he believes the time is now for him to begin his reign as champion. As it stands, the Champion Pantoja is a -180 betting favorite.

The Co-Main Event will feature a banger in the Bantamweight Division as Rio de Janeiro welcomes home their favorite son, Jose Aldo, as he returns from a 20-month layoff to fight in front of his people. He faces the always-dangerous and No. 12-ranked Jonathan Martinez, who's 10-3 in the UFC and rides a six-fight winning streak. Expect Jose Aldo's walkout to be the most memorable moment of the night.

Ismael Bonfim Wins by KO/TKO or DQ (+175) vs. Vinc Pichel

Ismael Bonfim is coming into this fight following his first UFC loss and a rather humbling finish from Benoit Saint Denis. It should have been a huge learning moment for him and he comes into this fight as a -550 betting favorite. Vinc Pichel is an extremely tough opponent and has gone to a decision in five of his last six fights. Still, Ismael Bonfim has all the tools to finish a fight and I expect his work to the body to have a significant effect in this fight. Neither of his UFC bouts have seen the distance and Bonfim is one to feed off the home crowd and turn in a prideful performance. Let's ride his knockout prop as he goes for the smart finish against a very tough opponent.

Drakkar Klose vs. Joaquim Silva DOES NOT Go the Distance (-150)

Drakkar Klose has shown recent strides of improvement in his boxing game and it's been apparent through his most recent performances. In his last fight, he was able to finish on a slam from a submission attempt, marking his second knockout in three fights. Joaquim Silva also doesn't tend to see the distance as five of his last six fights have ended in finishes. Both men have great striking skills, with Klose being the more technical boxer and Silva being much more active with his kicking game. Either way, both men will be searching for the finish and with the line juiced in that direction, we'll favor this one to end inside of the distance as someone earns a KO-win.

Vitor Petrino Wins by KO/TKO or DQ (+100) vs. Anthony Smith

Vitor Petrino is coming into this fight with a spotless 11-0 record and two finishes in the UFC. His cardio was a question upon his debut, but he's grown as a fighter and continues to show for new wrinkles in his game. Anthony Smith is supremely confident in himself and he's bound to make this a brawl for Petrino. Despite his recent outcomes, Smith remains one of the toughest fighters in this division and if this fight is close by the third round, he stands to find an unlikely submission win.

However, I think the power from Petrino will be too much for Anthony Smith to handle and we've seen what a terror Vitor Petrino can be when he finds favorable position on the ground. Ultimately, this fight will come down to damage and I expect Vitor Petrino to do his best work from the ground-and-pound positions. For near even odds, let's take him to finish this fight.

Jose Aldo Wins by Decision (+200) vs. Jonathan Martinez

Jose Aldo will receive the biggest pop of the night and it's been clear through fight week that this is an emotional return home for him. He's been out of UFC action for 20 months, but he remains insanely fit and is still younger at 37 than many fighters on the current roster. He'll be looking to turn in a vintage performance as it may be another farewell for him. Jonathan Martinez is extremely skilled and I expect this fight to be razor-thin throughout all three rounds. Look for Martinez to be the quicker man on his feet as he improvises and mixes up his looks.

Still, Jose Aldo's work throwing and checking leg kicks will be a big factor in this fight and it should play a role in how Martinez approaches closing the distance. With the home crowd behind him, I expect Jose Aldo to have the bigger moments in a fight that is ultimately very close in terms of numbers. Let's roll with Aldo to win on the scorecards as he lands the more damaging shots and swings momentum in his favor one too many times.
