The season ended short for the Kansas City Chiefs after they failed to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs. Now, the franchise prepares for a busy offseason. The front office will do everything necessary to keep this roster competitive, which shouldn't be too difficult. Even so, we take a look at the biggest Chiefs team need heading into the 2022 NFL offseason.

As long as Patrick Mahomes is under center the Chiefs will be in good hands. However, the roster could use a pick-me-up in the offseason to help out their superstar quarterback. There are a couple of areas Kansas City will want to focus on. Defensively, they could use some help in the secondary, while the offense needs an upgrade in the receiver room.

At the end of the day, the Chiefs will need to prioritize one position group over the other. Considering Kansas City has one of the league's best quarterbacks, it'd be wise to acquire a talented wide receiver to make the offense even more dangerous. Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and another exciting weapon could be too much for any opponent to handle.

With that said, here is our biggest Chiefs team need for the 2022 NFL offseason.

Biggest Chiefs Team Need in 2022 NFL Offseason

Boost The Wide Receiver Group

Kansas City already has a prolific offense, so the thought of the team adding another versatile weapon is a daunting idea for the rest of the league. For that reason, that should be the strategy the Chiefs follow through with. Travis Kelce is getting up there in age and Tyreek Hill needs help in the receiver room. Not to mention, providing Patrick Mahomes with another stud receiver would put this offense way over the top.

The Chiefs will have plenty of options at their disposal. There should be a plethora of stars available in free agency. Kansas City's cap situation could prevent them from signing a big-name receiver. However, Juju Smith-Schuster has already proclaimed interest in joining Kansas City. If not him, other potential suitors are Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, or Michael Gallup.

If Kansas City fails to sign a big-name receiver, the front office could look to make a trade. There are rumors that Calvin Ridley could be traded from the Atlanta Falcons. If he were to hit the trade block, the Chiefs should highly consider making that deal happen. For now, Ridley is not officially on the block, but we'll see how his situation transpires once the trading window re-opens.

The last option to find a receiver upgrade will be in the NFL Draft. This is the most realistic path for the Chiefs to improve their wide receiver group. We've had several years of stacked receiver classes entering the league and it looks like we're having another one. Mecole Hardman hasn't panned out the way the franchise had hoped, but they can make up for that with a splash pick in the first round this year.

So, between the free-agent market, trading, and NFL Draft, the Chiefs will have plenty of ways to improve the passing game. Kansas City has proven to be an elite team the last several years and can maintain dominance with another strong offseason. Look for the front office to potentially get aggressive, as they chase after another Super Bowl title.
