When AJ McCarron was added to the Buffalo Bills over the offseason, the label of “game manager” and “bridge quarterback” continues to be given to him as the team could potentially select a rookie quarterback with a really strong arm as their top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

However, McCarron believes that there is too much focus on arm strength instead of other quarterback qualities like accuracy and timing of throws, according to an article written by Bills beat reporter Matthew Fairburn of NYup.com.

“Me personally, I think a lot of people get sold on big arms,” McCarron said. “You look at the history of quarterbacks in the NFL, there's been a lot of great quarterbacks in the NFL that haven't had crazy strong arms. How many times do you actually drop back and throw the ball 60 yards? Very rarely. The game is played with timing and accuracy. If you have those two things, you can be successful.”

Although the Bills signed McCarron to a two-year, $10 million contract this offseason to compete with second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman for the starting job, the team could very well target a quarterback of the future in the first round of the draft next week.

McCarron also said he's not going to get all worked up over something like that and wants to come into the 2018-19 season and give his absolute best to the Bills organization.

What will the Bills do with their No. 12 pick? Will they select a quarterback, trade up or down in the draft, or address another position of need? McCarron and the rest of the world won't have to wait much longer to find out.
