The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a four-year contract extension with young superstar tight end Dion Dawkins, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Dawkins will be entering his fourth year in the NFL in 2020. He was drafted in the second round (63rd overall) by the Bills back in 2017. And since then, he has blossomed into a star.

Dawkins has appeared in every game for Buffalo over the three years he has been with the team. In that time, he has started 43 of a possible 48 games (all 32 games over the last two seasons).

He even has two touchdowns in Buffalo, one in each of the last two seasons.

Dawkins is not getting paid to run some trick plays for touchdowns though. No matter how impressive it is that he has two touchdowns in just two touches.

What Buffalo is paying him for is much more important. Dawkins is now with the team through the 2024 season. And he will be expected to cover the blindside of franchise quarterback Josh Allen.

Allen was drafted in the first round (seventh overall) in 2018. And after a rocky rookie season, he made some major improvements in 2019.

While some adjustments still need to be made to his game, Allen is on track to become a star at the position. And star quarterbacks need the best type of protection a team can provide him.

Luckily for Buffalo, they have a star in Dawkins. And now the left tackle is locked up for the foreseeable future.

Dawkins is a tank, listed at 6'5″, 320 lb. He has shown incredible athleticism and footwork to go along with that size. And all that combined have helped make him into a star.

His skill and hard work have now paid off, as Dawkins has officially locked down the first big-money contract in his career. It feels safe to assume that it probably won't be his last either.
