In her post, Erin notes that her mother, Jill, had been hospitalized due to pneumonia and that Jim had joined him in the next room within 24 hours to have his gallbladder removed. She did not specify any reason why Jim Kelly needed to undergo the produce to have his gallbladder removed.

Jim Kelly, who has battled head and neck cancer in recent years, was at the Super Bowl in Minnesota last week to help raise awareness and money for cancer patient organizations.

Kelly spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the Bills, compiling a 101-59 record in 160 career games. He finished with 35,467 passing yards and 237 touchdowns, both still far and away the most all-time in Bills history. Kelly famously led the Bills to four consecutive Super Bowls from 1990-1993, only to lose all four times.

Kelly’s family has gone through a lot medically through the years. His son, Hunter, was diagnosed with Krabbe disease after his birth in 1997 and died at the age of eight in 2005. Kelly was then diagnosed with cancer for the first time in his upper jaw in 2013. He experienced a recurrence in 2014, but it went into remission after chemotherapy later that year.

But even though Kelly has remained cancer-free, he still continues to battle through whatever physical condition caused his gallbladder to be removed. Hopefully, he and his wife can recover soon from their respective ailments and may experience more good health in their future.
