Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott is electing to keep starting quarterback Josh Allen in the lineup despite being locked into the first Wild Card spot in the AFC after a Week 16 loss to the New England Patriots.

McDermott mentioned in a press conference on Tuesday, via ProFootballTalk, that most starters for the Bills will take the field, but they could be pulled out of the game to ensure their health for the upcoming Wild Card round matchup.

With Buffalo being locked into the fifth seed in the AFC, the team is more than likely to face the Houston Texans on the road. Buffalo currently stands at 10-5, making the playoffs for the second time in three seasons.

Much of the teams success can be attributed to McDermott, who is 25-22 in three seasons with the team. Prior to McDermott joining the team the Bills had not made the playoffs since 1999.

Allen is having a phenomenal season for the Bills, throwing for 3,084 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Allen also has 553 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.

Buffalo could take on the Kansas City Chiefs as well if the Chiefs lose to the Los Angeles Chargers and the Texans beat Tennessee Titans. Houston beat Kansas City earlier in the season, giving them the tiebreaker.

The Bills are not the only team mulling over the decision to rest starters, as the Ravens will sit potential MVP Lamar Jackson against the Steelers.

As the Bills await their Wild Card opponent, potential starters will have the opportunity to get a little more rest if McDermott elects to rest them after some playing time.
