Earlier this week, the Buffalo Bills decided to part ways with veteran wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin after less than a season and a half with the team.

Benjamin has now gone unclaimed across the league on waivers, making him a free agent where he will be able to sign where he wants to play the next chapter of his career, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The waiver process could have seen any team make a claim to add Benjamin to the fold, but he instead becomes a free agent free to negotiate any length of contract he desires with any team. It may just be a matter of which team wants to bring him aboard at a certain price, possibly one vying for a playoff spot.

Heading into this season, the Bills initially hoped that Benjamin could step firmly into the role of being a clear-cut No.1 receiving option in the passing game, but he struggled to prove that on a week-to-week basis. He had shown flashes in his career that he can be a big playmaker in the passing game, but he has struggled to stay on the field over the last two years. This was certainly the case at times with the Bills this year, as he piled up 23 catches for 354 receiving yards and a touchdown.

This is an opportunity for him to reboot his career, as Benjamin has a chance to latch onto another team where he could get back on track to being one of better young wide receivers in the league. Given his ability on the field to be a threat in the red zone and big-play ability, he should be able to find a new home in the NFL over the next several days.
