The Buffalo Bills are tending to an injured Tre'Davious White, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The team is facing the Detroit Lions on Friday night for their third preseason game of 2019. White walked to the bench under his own power.

The cornerback is entering his third year as a pro after two outstanding seasons in Western New York. The Bills selected the former Louisiana State Tiger with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

In White's rookie year, he proved to be the lockdown corner the Bills desperately needed after Stephon Gilmore’s departure to the New England Patriots. The cornerback started 16 games and recorded 69 combined tackles, four interceptions, and 18 pass deflections. Whether he played in man or zone coverage, White was simply the Bills’ best cornerback the minute he stepped onto New Era Field.

For his rookie season, per Pro Football Focus, White allowed a lowly 72.6 passer rating in zone and an absurd 58.3 in man coverage. His allowed catch rate of 50.6% was the third-lowest by a rookie since PFF started up in 2006. White’s 92.0 overall rookie grade ranked second in the NFL for all cornerbacks; rookies and veterans alike. Despite that, he didn't make the Pro-Bowl.

In his second season, White picked up where he left off — despite lower grades by PFF. Quarterbacks simply decided to stop throwing his way. Yet, he still accumulated two interceptions and eight pass deflections on the year; as well as 54 combined tackles. According to USA Today's Doug Farrar, he allowed just 30 catches for 342 yards, two touchdowns and a passer rating of 75.6 in 16 games started in 2018.

Hopefully, the injury isn't too severe, considering his outstanding play in just two seasons in Buffalo. The Bills possess one of the NFL's mightiest pass defenses, in large part due to White's skillset.
