Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard C.J. McCollum knows better than most fans that the NBA is run by cold-hearted front offices which will not hesitate to put business above players’ feelings. In addition, NBA executives don’t also have very good timing.

McCollum succinctly puts that into perspective in a tweet he sent out after the Oklahoma City Thunder traded for Carmelo Anthony from New York Knicks in exchange for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and a future draft pick.

Enes Kanter’s love for Oklahoma City is well-known. He was among those that stood up for the team when Kevin Durant ditched the Thunder last season for an opportunity to play in the Bay Area. Kanter so loved the city and the team that earlier this week, he released a statement expressing how much he cherished being part of the Thunder and the community they play for. It took the Thunder’s higher-ups just four days to make Kanter’s heartfelt message look like a forgettable love letter to an ex.

Time and time again, the NBA has proven that loyalty can sometimes equate to nothing in the league. Unfortunately for the 25-year-old Kanter, he was the latest to become an example.
