Portland Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard has hit countless big-time shots during his NBA career. The three-time All-Star never shies away from the big moment and he usually delivers the goods.

However, just like every other player who takes clutch shots, there are certain times where Damian Lillard doesn't come through for his team and the 28-year-old has learned to deal with failure because of his strong work ethic.

“I believe in my work, I believe in what I’m capable of, so I can deal with the failure of it,” Lillard said on the Jim Rome Show. “When I don’t make those shots, it doesn’t break me down or make me lose confidence.

“I know in my heart that I really, really work on my stuff hard, so I really believe in it.”

When you work as hard as Damian Lillard does, you can live with the results, whether they are good or bad. No player is ever going to shoot 100 percent on game-winning or game-tying shots.

One of Michael Jordan's most famous quotes is, “I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” It's a great quote for any athlete to live by.

Lillard is having another stellar season for the Blazers. The explosive scoring guard is averaging 26.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game and shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.
