Much has been made of Damian Lillard's future with the Portland Trail Blazers this offseason, but a trade request is apparently not imminent.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN (h/t Bleacher Report) said on the latest iteration of his Hoop Collective podcast that Lillard is not seriously looking to be traded at this point.

A fluid situation in Portland, to say the least.

There had been rumblings suggesting Lillard would, in fact, be looking to leave the Blazers in part because he is purportedly unsure of the organization's ability to build a winner. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports also reported the backlash to Portland's hiring of new head coach Chauncey Billups was prompting a bit of angst:

“The enormous backlash from the Portland Trail Blazers' process to hire a new coach and his concerns on whether a championship contender can be built have become factors that may push the franchise player — Damian Lillard — out the door, league sources told Yahoo Sports,” Haynes wrote Sunday.

Lillard is not the only Blazers star whose future appears to be in question this offseason. Shooting guard CJ McCollum might also be an interesting trade target for a number of teams.

However, Lillard is unquestionably the biggest swing piece.

The Blazers would be committing to a tear-down if they trade Lillard, while a contender acquiring “Dame” would immediately boost its chances of winning an NBA title or, at the very least, being far more competitive.

It's worth pointing out, amid the speculation, there have been no indications the Blazers have any desire to trade Lillard. Apparently, Lillard also wants to feel things out and see where this offseason leads.
