The White Sox are the worst team in baseball. Unfortunately, nothing has gone right for the team from the southside, as the losses have piled up. They entered Saturday with a 14-31 record. Now, they hope to sustain some kind of momentum as they play one of the stronger teams.

The Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball. They have found numerous ways to win. Ultimately, they entered Saturday with a 31-15 record and were leading the AL East. The Yanks will attempt to keep themselves hot by going through one of the worst teams in the majors.

Chris Flexen starts for the White Sox. He is 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA this season. Recently, he tossed 4 2/3 innings while allowing three earned runs on seven hits in a no-decision against the Washington Nationals.

Why The White Sox Will Cover The Spread/Win

The White Sox are bad in numerous ways. Unfortunately, it's not just one thing. The Sox are 29th in batting average. They are also last in on-base percentage, runs, home runs, and slugging percentage.

Things have been really bad for the White Sox since Luis Robert suffered a right hip flexor strain early in the season. Thus, Chicago has struggled to get anything going in this lineup. There are not many options in this lineup. Overall, they are not scoring many runs.

The Sox scored just two runs on Friday while leaving eight runners on the basepaths. Additionally, they managed just nine combined runs over three games against the Nationals. Before that series, they managed 12 runs over four games against the Cleveland Guardians. The Sox have scored over three runs five times this month. However, they have also scored under three runs six times this month. Ultimately, this lineup is not generating any runs.

The White Sox don't have a good pitching staff. Currently, they rank 24th in team ERA. Despite that, their relievers are not awful. Currently, the bullpen ranks 16th in team ERA.

The White Sox will cover the spread if they can generate some scoring and drive the runners home. Then, they need to avoid making mistakes against this dangerous lineup.

Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Yankees are good in a variety of ways. Substantially, their hitting is getting the job done. The Yanks are fifth in batting average. Additionally, they are also third in on-base percentage and fourth in runs. New York also ranks second in home runs and fourth in slugging percentage.

The Yankees have a good lineup from top to bottom. Significantly, Anthony Volpe leads them off and is doing enough to get this lineup going. Juan Soto has been an excellent addition to the Bronx Bombers and is hitting .301 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs, and 30 runs going into Saturday's action. Then, they have Aaron Judge, who continues to be one of the best hitters in baseball, with a batting average of .267 with 12 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 27 runs. While Giancarlo Stanton is not as great as he once was, he still is hitting .250 with 10 home runs, 24 RBIs, and 20 runs.

The Yankees have elite pitching, which is among the main reasons they are thriving this season. Significantly, they are the best team in baseball in team ERA. New York also has the second-best bullpen in baseball.

The Yankees will cover the spread if they can continue to bash the baseball. Then, they need Rodon to have another quality start.

Final White Sox-Yankees Prediction & Pick

The White Sox are awful. Sadly, nothing has gone right for them this season. Because of this, it is hard to expect them to do much of anything against a powerhouse like the Yankees. Rodon is an elite starter and someone who can fool the Sox with a variety of pitches. Expect him to continue to thrive as he finds ways to hit the strike zone and deceive this weak lineup into swinging at pitches they shouldn't. The Yankees will win and cover the spread.
