Why The Blue Jays Will Cover The Spread/Win

Toronto has a great chance to put up some runs in this game. Corbin has allowed at least seven hits in five of his six starts, and at least eight hits in four of his six starts. In total, Corbin has allowed 47 hits in 31.2 innings pitched while striking out just 22. He does not get a lot of swings and misses (20.0 percent whiff rate), so the Blue Jays just need to hit their pitches. If they can do that, they are going to win this game on the road.

Kikuchi is off to a really good start this season. In five starts in April, Kikuchi had a 2.45 ERA, with 32 strikeouts to just five walks in 29.1 innings pitched. He went at least 5.1 innings in all of his April starts, and six innings in his last four. Kikuchi does a great job missing barrels, and he needs to do that in this game, as well. If he can continue to have good starts, the Blue Jays will win this game.

Why The Nationals Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Nationals have a tough matchup against Kikuchi, but they still have a chance to play well offensively. Kikuchi is in just the 25th percentile in hard hit percentage, 31st percentile in chase percentage, and 37th percentile in average exit velocity. This tells me he gets a little bit lucky on the mound. Those hard hits are going to start falling eventually, so the Nationals need to just stick with it. Washington hits the ball decently well, and if they can continue that, they will win this game.

Washington needs Corbin to have one of his good starts in this game. The Blue Jays are not the best offensive team, so Corbin has a good chance. Toronto is batting just .225 as a team, and their slugging percentage is the eighth-worst in the MLB. Along with that, their hard-hit percentage is third-worst in the MLB, and their average exit velocity is the worst in all of baseball. If Corbin can take advantage of a struggling offense, the Nationals are going to win this game.

Final Blue Jays-Nationals Prediction & Pick

The Nationals are playing some good baseball this season, which is a bit surprising to some people. On the other hand, the Blue Jays are not playing as well as they expect to be. However, for this game, I am going to take the Blue Jays to win straight up. They have the better pitcher on the mound, and I think he is going to pull out the win for his team.
