The Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers finish their three-game series with a Wednesday afternoon rubber match before the Blue Jays head home to host the Guardians this weekend. Before hosting the Reds, the Brewers also get the day off on Thursday. The Blue Jays have won just five of their last ten games, while the Brewers have won six of ten after their win in the series' first game. The teams are in two separate positions. The Jays are 14 games behind the Yankees in the American League East, while the Brewers are seven games ahead of the Reds, Cubs, and Cardinals. It's time to continue our MLB odds series with a Blue Jays-Brewers prediction and pick.

Why The Blue Jays Will Cover The Spread/Win

Chris Bassitt had a special moment on the mound in Oakland in his last start. Bassitt played with the Athletics for most of his MLB career, and with the Athletics moving to Sacramento, it is likely the last time Bassitt will be on the mound in his longtime home. Bassitt pitched eight flawless innings, scooping dirt off the mound on his way out as a keepsake. Will the last Oakland start inspire Bassitt for the remainder of the season?

Tobias Myers had an even better eight-inning outing in his last start, but his performance at home is a concern. Myers' ERA rises to 6.75 at home, and his WHIP to 1.50. The Jays are one of the most inconsistent offensive teams in the MLB, but they've been performing better against righties. The Jays have a .231 average and a .308 on-base percentage with 4.1 runs/nine. The biggest question for this game will be whether the Jays can keep up with Milwaukee's offense.

Why The Brewers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Brewers' offense is starting to break out, especially against righties over their last ten games. They are batting .283, with a .355 on-base percentage and 5.8 runs/nine. The Brewers could arguably be averaging more runs with these splits, meaning they could have some positive regression instead of negative.

The Brewers need Myers to get them into the later innings, either with a lead or a small deficit. If the Brewers put it in the hands of their bullpen heading into those stages, they will hold the advantage. The Blue Jays' bullpen has a 4.83 ERA, while the Brewers have a 3.31 ERA.

Final Blue Jays-Brewers Prediction & Pick

Chris Bassitt makes it very hard to bet against the Blue Jays. However, the Brewers hold the advantage in every other category. You can hope that Myers will get the Brewers at least into a position to win this game and let the offense and bullpen take over from there. It'll be hard for the Blue Jays to win this game unless Bassitt has another 8+ inning outing.
